Royal Winton

In 1885, the Grimwade brothers, founded a company “Grimwades Limited”, a Stoke-on-Trent based company that produced earthenware and tableware, eventually known as Royal Winton.

Grimwade Ltd’s success was such that by 1906, the company had 4 factories within Stoke-on-Trent.

In 1928 they earned immediate success with the launch of the first chintz pattern called ‘Marguerite’. The following year, Royal Winton became the established trade name for Grimwades Limited. Production of over 60 chintz patterns stopped in the early 1960s as a result of high production costs associated with the design.
